Knowledge Graph Questions

The chatbot is backed by a knowledge graph that connects course, program, and transfer data across all 9 LACCD campuses. It enriches the college catalog with transfer articulation data from California's official ASSIST.org database—linking 20,000+ courses to their UC/CSU transferability, GE area codes, and historical renumberings. Unlike keyword search or simple Q&A, the graph encodes relationships between entities—enabling queries that cross multiple data boundaries at once.

What the graph can answer today:

Transfer eligibility — Is a course UC or CSU transferable?
GE area fulfillment — Which courses satisfy IGETC Area 2A (Math), CSU-GE Area A2 (Written Communication), or Cal-GETC requirements?
Course renumberings — 2,700+ auto-detected cross-references (e.g., MATH 227 became STAT C1000 across all 9 campuses)
Cross-campus course data — Compare the same course across all LACCD colleges without 9 separate API calls
Free textbook links — OpenStax peer-reviewed textbooks linked to subjects in the graph

RAG answers are automatically enriched with graph context when course codes are detected. Schedule results include transfer and GE info.
